ISTE-L 5: Connected Learner

“Leaders model continuous learning by participating in professional learning networks. They use digital tools to collaborate, reflect, and grow with others.”

Purpose

This standard emphasizes the importance of building and contributing to professional learning networks (PLNs) using digital tools. As an instructional designer and educator, I’ve engaged in authentic, collaborative opportunities to learn from others, share insights, and reflect on how technology can support meaningful professional growth.

Justification

The PLN Final Project website showcases my group’s curated resources and best practices for using AI in instructional design. We organized tools by purpose and audience, and provided actionable advice for educators exploring emerging technologies. This artifact demonstrates my ability to collaborate, curate, and share knowledge in a digital space.

The supporting PLN parts (3–6) document my individual contributions and reflections throughout the project. I followed professional organizations, shared articles via Feedly and social media, summarized expert insights, and reflected on group dynamics and social media’s role in education. These artifacts show sustained engagement with a PLN and thoughtful evaluation of its impact on my practice.

Together, these artifacts illustrate my growth as a connected learner—someone who actively participates in digital communities, reflects on learning, and models ethical, collaborative engagement.
