ISTE-L 2: Visionary Planner

“Leaders engage others in a shared vision for technology integration. They develop strategic plans informed by data and aligned with institutional goals.”

Purpose

This standard focuses on engaging others in a shared vision for technology integration and change. Visionary planners align their goals with institutional priorities, use data to inform decisions, and revise plans based on feedback. As an instructional designer and program coordinator, I’ve led strategic planning efforts that center equity, sustainability, and meaningful technology use.

Justification

The Visionary Leadership Interview captures insights from a higher education technology coordinator on how vision is shaped, shared, and sustained. This artifact highlights the importance of aligning departmental goals with broader institutional priorities, addressing digital equity, and modeling ethical technology use. It also explores how leadership decisions impact faculty support, instructional design, and long-term innovation.

The NC Digital Learning Initiative Evaluation applies a statewide rubric to assess digital learning systems in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. My analysis identifies gaps in professional development, infrastructure, and leadership continuity. I proposed actionable steps—such as reinstating digital learning coaches and implementing coaching cycles—to rebuild a sustainable vision for technology integration. This artifact demonstrates my ability to use data, stakeholder feedback, and strategic planning tools to guide systemic change.

Together, these artifacts show how I engage in visionary planning by gathering input, aligning goals with broader frameworks, and revising plans based on evidence and reflection.
